Police have been left baffled by a series of number plate thefts in the Stamford area, and offering a £50 reward to any information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the culprits.
Front and back number plates have been stolen from cars in the area- some may even have been taken in broad daylight. However, police have said that they are taking the thefts very seriously, and are determined to catch those responsible.
Stamford Police Inspector Gary Stewart confirmed:
“These two incidents make it six thefts of registration plates in the last week in the area.
“Although some may view this as a very low-level crime it is extremely frustrating for the owners of the cars and they do have to pay for them to be replaced.
“We want to nip this in the bud as soon as possible.
“We want people to report any suspicious activity around vehicles in the town and we are offering a £50 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.”
Anyone with any information, or those who are concerned about the safety of their plates should contact Stamford Police immediately.
