In an article last week, we told you the remarkable story about how a bank robber had been caught after setting up the crime in a car adorned with a personalised number plate. Now, the driver of the J4 MES number plate has been jailed for 10 years and ordered to pay back his share of the £100,000 raid.
The robber, James Snell, 27, from Cardiff, was spotted by a witness who recalled the personalised number plate attached to his BMW vehicle. This helped the police to track the criminal to his home address and now he will have to pay back the £26,000.
Along with his three other accomplices, who were also jailed, the raid on the Halifax bank in Cardiff proved to be unsuccessful because the eagle-eyed witness remembered seeing the car. The gang used drain covers to break the front window of the bank in Roath, Cardiff.
If you are looking to buy a personalised number plate you will certainly get noticed. The foiled robbery just goes to show that if you have a distinctive number plate, then people will most certainly remember seeing it!
