For those living in Witney and West Oxfordshire, you have been encouraged to take up the opportunity to protect your number plate for free.
This remarkable offer has been made to residents by the West Oxfordshire Safer Communities Partnership in conjunction with local garage, KJ’s Motor Car Engineers. This scheme has been started to ward against the theft of personalised number plates in the area.
The scheme revolves around how the registration plate is attached to the car, without the use of the usual screws that can be tampered with. Instead, tamper-proof screws attach the plate to the car. These screws are extremely difficult to undo and will provide that extra level of protection and peace of mind for car owners.
This local scheme is expected to run until the end of December and more than 500 tamper-proof screws are currently available. If you live in the local area you can get these screws for free just by visiting the premises of KJ’s Motor Car Engineers.
Local officer, PC Phil Marstin has backed the offer and he said:
“I think it is the worry that people are mainly concerned about when their number plates are stolen, they think I’m going to get fined or how do I prove it’s not me if another car is using the plate.”
