A vicar from West Sussex has been raising a few smiles amongst his local community with his personalised number plate.
Gary Ingram, vicar at St Andrews Church in Ferring, can be seen driving about the village in a nippy Renault Clio with the number plate Y2 REV.
Reverend Ingram, who was gifted the car by his parents, joked:
“I am a great believer in using humour in my faith. It’s a wonderful tool to help make people feel at ease.”
“To make people laugh is a good thing and that is why I use the number plate and all the other bits in the car.”
“The car raises a lot of smiles when parishioners see it and they have joked about it with me.
“I don’t think I would have the courage to go up on stage so I don’t see myself as a frustrated comedian but there is often a joke in my sermons.”
In addition to the personalised number plate, the back shelf of Rev. Ingrams’s car is home to a nodding Jesus and a nodding vicar, plus a ‘Vicar on Board’ sticker- so there really is no mistaking what he does for a living!
