This was perhaps the start of the private reg market becoming accessible to a wider public. This market has seen substantial growth through economic highs and economic lows, offering a very unique asset at a variety if prices.

Even though there have been a number of changes to the format of number plates over the years, the UK still has one of the most developed and commercialised car numberplates market in the world.

So what next for the UK car numberplates market?

The prices achieved at auction still continue to rise even though the most choice marks ie the single digit / two letter dateless car numberplates have been sold long ago. There is still a big demand for these auction releases even though the DVLA have gradually increased the number of car numberplates from 1500 per year to the present 10,000 spaced over 7 auctions.

The last release held back are the 'F' prefix car numberplates. We await information as to the date of this release. Look at the navigation bar for F release and fill in the form if you are interested.
