Before the DVLA became an agency the government body was known as the DVLC (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre). Some people still use this historical term out of habit and, perhaps, can still be seen as referring to the actual huge building in Swansea.
However, DVLC Plates UK is a doubly inaccurate term since the DVLA is only responsible for registering vehicles in England, Scotland and Wales.
