Following the success of the Agency's Centenary celebrations held at DVLA Swansea in June 2003, the event was taken on the
road in October 2003 visiting major shopping centres in Birmingham, Newcastle and Essex.
The road shows enabled the Agency to promote current and forthcoming initiatives with representatives from the
Agency on-hand able to answer questions from the visiting public. Some of the initiatives showcased at each venue
were DVLA's Personalised Registrations facility where customers were able to check on number plate availability and
the accuracy campaign informing the public of the importance of keeping their vehicle and driver records up to date.
Information was also available on new initiatives such as the new vehicle tax rules and harmonised registration certificate that were introduced on 1 January 2003. The Agency asked customers and visitors for feedback by asking them to complete a questionnaire. The results showed they were in favour of these events saying they found them informative and interesting. The results mean the Agency will undertake more regional road shows next year. Future editions of DVL Today will provide details. Article taken from DVL Today - Issue 26 - Reproduced under Crown Copyright
