Lady Self-Conscious Over WTF Number Plate
Last year in North Carolina, USA, the department of motor vehicles for the county issued 10,000 registrations.
In order to create unique combinations for the registration numbers, the department uses an alphanumeric system that includes three letters.
One of the variations "WTF", a seemingly innocuous-looking trio, has led to a call to replace the combination with something less offensive.
The call was led by one of the 9,999 residents falling under the control of the department, a technology and computing elementary school teacher, who demanded that the department offer a free replacement for herself and for everyone issued with a WTF plate.
Apparently, Hardy, 60, wasn't familiar with the significance of letter sequence on the plate - WTF (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot) - which is an acronym used to express surprise or horror in shorthand on the web and when using email, Internet chat, etc.
Hardy only became self-conscious of the registration plate when she caught her teenage grandchildren giggling at it.
