'TVR' Number Plates

TVR is an independent British sports car manufacturer who at one time was the third-largest maker of specialist sports cars in the world. They are largely known for their lightweight bodies and powerful engines, earning them their slogan: "The Spirit of Driving".

The bulk of TVRs were sold at the height of their popularity in the 60s and 70s, before they stopped make new cars. This means dateless and suffix number plates are usually the ones that achieve high prices on the private market. 1 TVR, the ultimate plate for any TVR sports car, sold in 1992 for £8,500. In 2004 500 TVR got close to that price, selling at £7,100, and there are still tonnes of TVR plates available.

In 2013, TVR was purchased by a new owner, who announced plans to return the company to its former glory. They went on to release the highly anticipated Griffith, which featured designwork by Gordon Murray, a 5.0L Ford Cosworth V8 engine, and a carbon fibre ground effect chassis. With more models scheduled to be released in the 2020s, grab a TVR plate while you can, it might be a great investment.
