'Mel' Number Plates

The name Mel is one which is both masculine and feminine, and is most common as a shortened form of other names, such as Melissa, Melanie or in the masculine form, Melvin. Actor Mel Gibson, of Braveheart notoriety, is a famous Mel, along with former Spice Girls singers Mel B and Mel C, both of whom use Mel as a short version of Melanie.

Mel has the advantage of being able to act as a prefix or a suffix when it's part of a registration. The most expensive Mel plate sold was for £17,500 in December 1996 which read as I MEL, the price tag fits the unique registration.
