Asia Motors started out as a KIA subsidiary of Kia Motors in 1965 and closed in 1999.
With a fleet of military vehicles some of the first for the South Korean car manufacturers, Asia Motors moved on to buses and SUVs, eventually working with Fiat to manufacture their Fiat 124 models.
After losing the legal right to car assembly in the country, Kia bought the failing company in 1976, and after Kia was purchased by Hyundai, the Asia Motors brand was put on the shelf in 1999.
