Emma has been one of the most consistently popular names in the country. It originally came from the Germanic word 'ermen', which meant whole. The name was reportedly introduced to the UK by Emma of Normandy, the wife of King Æthelred, in the 11th century. The Norman Invasion is often credited with making the name so popular.

The name itself is too long to have on a number plate unaltered, but a 3 can easily be used to replace the E, or a 4 used in place of the A, which opens up lots of options. For example, EMM 4H sold in 2004 for £11,000. Another way of getting an Emma number plate would be to shorten it slightly to EMA, or EMM, which would give you tonnes more to choose from.
