Cardiff City Number Plates

Formed in 1899, Cardiff City joined the English Football League Second Division in 1920, they won the FA Cup in 1927, and remain the only Welsh team to do so.

Throughout the 20th Century, Cardiff moved between the leagues until 2000 when they were taken over by Lebanese businessman Sam Hammam. After initial transfer funding and a few dodgy decisions by Hammam, such as trying to rename the club the Cardiff Celts to get country of Wales behind the team, they were again taken over by a consortium led by Peter Ridsdale in 2006. They then reached the final of the 2008 FA Cup for the first time in 81 years, unfortunately losing out to Portsmouth.

Another takeover took place in 2010, this time by Datuk Chan Tien Ghee, with Malky Mackay being instated as manager. He took the side to the League Cup final for the first time in the club's history during his first season and the following season, Cardiff won the 2012?13 Championship title, gaining promotion to the top tier of English football for the first time after 52 years.

They enjoyed live in the Premier League for a season, with Mackay being replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjær, only to be relegated to the championship anyway. Solskjær was then sacked and replaced by Russell Slade, who was then replaced by Neil Warnock in 2016. He dragged them from the bottom of the league to 12th in his first season and gained promotion in his second. Unfortunately, Cardiff were then relegated again, and currently reside in the Championship.
