Unfortunately National Numbers have extremely antiquated procedures that they will not be flexible on. They will not issue the original Retention Certificate to you quoting the Data Protection Act. They will send you a photocopy with the sellers details obliterated. They will retain the original until such time as you are ready to use it. This is rubbish! Other registration companies will issue the original without question as a matter of course. The DVLA do not understand why NN won't issue it and a lawyer friend of mine says its rubbish too. As I didn't therefore trust the company after that battle I asked them to immediately transfer the number onto one of my cars then immediately got DVLA to transfer it off again meaning I then get the retention certificate in my name. This is another £80 I really didn't want to spend. Further NN will demand that you send them the old original V5 log book document as its a DVLA requirement. This is rubbish too! You don't need to do this either as the confirmation from DVLA that NN forward onto to clearly says "you may now destroy the V5 document". If I were you I'd use another firm as they all have access to the same registration numbers.

It could not be easier to purchase a registration from National Numbers. The whole experience was quick and friendly. The new plates were dispatched quickly. The simple form sent to me just required signing and sending on to DVLA. The whole experience was good.

Bought as a surprise but yet the paperworkgor sent to my home address not the other I specified (it was a surprise for my missus) and the address on the plates were a combination of my home address and the other I specified so they took nearly 3 week to find there way to me!! So overall not impressed!

I'd used national Numbers previously 5 years ago with no issues, so when I wanted another plate, I called them. Though I had online prices for the same plate cheaper, you have to be careful as to whats been included (or not). NP managed to reduce their price slightly to match others like for like, and the info and plates came through within a couple of dates, exactly as promised.
exerlant price cant beat the 0% apr was kept up to date was transfered in under a week cheers dan

Very easy to pick your own number, and efficient and fast delivery of all paperwork. I bought 2 numbers so far and would always happily come back
I called to enquire about a number plate that I have seen on several websites. The number plate in question was advertised at £15995, I was advised that this number plate was subject to VAT which would add £3188 to the total price. I queried this as another very well know online company were able to sell this plate without VAT. I asked why I had to pay VAT purchasing this number plate with National Numbers. The response from the telephone agent was very vague and told me it was not my concern. It was subject to VAT and that was it. I asked to speak to a manager and this was refused. I can categorically say that the number plate in question was being sold by a private individual and was not subject to VAT. I have since purchased this number plate from another very well known online company at £12995 with no VAT. I do not have any confidence in this company and found the representative rude and abrasive. Very 'wide boy' manner who just seemed interested in commission rather than offering to negotiate on my behalf. As a customer spending circa £16k on a registration, I feel it reasonable to ask why I have to pay VAT when other websites are listing it without VAT. I would strongly recommend searching the various different websites that sell these numbers before you decide who to make your purchase with. I did that and saved £3000 on the number plate and £3188 VAT totalling £6188. If the agent at National Numbers had offered to negotiate on my behalf with the owner of the plate I suspect they would of also got the plate at a reduced price to sell to me. But no, the agent I spoke to couldn't care less.
