BJ26 ***
Let’s start with a blanket ban. Every single registration starting with BJ26 has been pulled from the release. Why? Because when you follow those four characters with almost any three letters, it becomes a playground for innuendo.
Whether it's BJ26 BALS, BJ26 STD, or BJ26 BOY, the DVLA decided it was easier to bin the lot rather than play a game of "rude word whack-a-mole."
PE26 VRT
This is a classic example of "number-letter-substitution" that didn't get past the gatekeepers. It doesn't take much imagination to see that the '2' and '6' are doing a lot of heavy lifting to spell out a particularly creepy insult.
So, if you were hoping to label your car as the neighbourhood "pervert," you’ll have to find another way to ruin your social life.
AA26 RSE
The '26' series has been a goldmine for those obsessed with human anatomy, and this one is pretty self-explanatory.
The DVLA has a zero-tolerance policy for anything that refers to your rear end, and this particular combination was deemed a bit too "cheeky" even for the most light-hearted commute.
SH26 GGZ
Looking for a registration that suggests a wild weekend? You won't find it here. This attempt to spell "shags" using the '26' as a double-G was quickly identified and removed.
It’s one of those registrations that would have likely caused a few double-takes on the M1, which is exactly why it’s now on the scrapheap.
AF26 NNY
A bit of a "rude" classic here. This plate relies on the phonetics of the '26' to spell out a term that’s definitely not suitable for a Sunday drive to church.
It's crude, it's immature, and it was never going to make it past a censor with a cup of tea and a red pen.
TO26 ERR
The DVLA is surprisingly well-versed in British slang. This plate, a phonetic spelling of a classic British insult, was among the first to be flagged.
It’s a firm "no" from the agency, ensuring that you can't use your car to tell the driver behind exactly what you think of their parking skills.
WA26 TED
Are you a fan of a heavy night out? Perhaps you wanted to celebrate your love for the local pub? Unfortunately, the DVLA thinks this plate is a bit too much of a celebration of being "wasted."
It’s not much of a surprise, as they tend to shy away from anything that glorifies being under the influence, even if it's just a light-hearted joke.
PU26 SAY
Another anatomical entry that was dead on arrival. The '26' series has been particularly tricky for the DVLA because the '2' and '6' together create so many vowel-like sounds that can be twisted into naughty words.
This one was far too obvious to slip through the net.
SL26 GGY
From "slacker" to "slaggy," the DVLA interprets the '26' as a 'GG' in many of their bans. This particular mark was deemed a bit too insulting, and since the DVLA aims to prevent "public embarrassment," they’ve made sure this one stays off the road.
