For some reason you may be unhappy with the way your MOT test was conducted, or you may disagree with the test results. In this case, you will need to discuss the test results with an MOT test station representative prior to any work commencing on the vehicle.
To do this, you will need to complete an appeal form, VT17, which is available from all MOT test stations, online, or by ringing VOSA on 0300 123 9000.
VOSA will offer you an appointment within 5 days, and will take the full MOT test fee again. Remember than you must appeal within 14 days. You will get some or part of the fee back if your appeal is successful.
Inform VOSA as soon as possible if you've bought a vehicle and suspect it has been passed incorrectly.
If they accept your complaint, VOSA will offer an appointment within five days to recheck your vehicle free of charge, provided that no more than three months has passed since the MOT test for a corrosion related problem; and no more than 28 days have passed with other defects.
Find your local VOSA office via an MOT test station or by calling VOSA on 0300 123 9000.
Call the MOT validation line on 0870 330 0444 or do an MOT check online.
Let VOSA know as part of their customer improvement service. Call them on 0300 123 9000 to get details of your Area Manager at a local VOSA office.
