Can Any Old Number Plate Be Assigned to My Car?
No. A registration cannot be assigned if it would make the vehicle appear newer than it is. For example, a registration issued in 2018 cannot be displayed on a vehicle first registered in 2010.
An older registration can normally be assigned to a newer eligible vehicle, while dateless plates do not carry an age identifier. Use our vehicle age checker to see which registration periods are suitable for your vehicle.
