Can I Use a Smaller Plate for a Short Registration?

A shorter plate can be legal if the registration contains fewer characters and the required character sizes, spacing, margins and legal markings still fit.

The characters and gaps cannot simply be reduced to create a smaller plate. Different dimensions may apply to qualifying imported vehicles, motorcycles and certain other vehicle types.
