When Did Number Plates Start Showing a Vehicle’s Age?
Registration plates first began displaying a year identifier when suffix registrations were introduced in 1963. The letter appeared at the end of the registration, with A representing 1963. Before this change, registration marks did not directly reveal the age of the vehicle.
