What happens to a V778 if the grantee dies?
If the grantee dies, the rights to the registration do not automatically transfer to another person. The executor or administrator of the estate will normally need to contact the DVLA and provide the relevant documentation before the registration can be transferred, assigned or retained as part of the estate.
It is advisable to contact the DVLA directly for guidance on the process, as requirements can vary depending on the circumstances.
