Does a Missing BS AU 145e Mark Cause an MOT Failure?
Not by itself. MOT testers are not required to check the British Standard number, supplier name or supplier postcode.
However, new or replacement plates fitted from 1 September 2021 must display the BS AU 145e mark to meet legal manufacturing requirements. A plate can therefore pass an MOT inspection while still failing to meet every requirement for a road-legal number plate.
